The first joint conference of the Association for Literary
and Linguistic Computing and the Association for Computers and the Humanities
took place in 1989 at the University of Toronto. Thereafter conference
has alternated between Europe and North America. 1997 marked a return
to Canada, to Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. In 1998 the conference
went for the first time to Eastern Europe.
